Description

Cudeman Asalto 140-M-K: the tactical heir to the classic Zapador

The Cudeman Asalto was born from a joint project between the Albacete brand and the Accion XXI Survival School, working alongside Manuel Balaguer Bernardos. The starting point was to update the legendary Zapador knife used by special forces and take it to the next level. The result is a piece conceived for military, law-enforcement and extreme survival environments, where the tool cannot fail under any circumstances.

Its 14.5 cm blade and its architecture geared towards combat and field work deliver a sense of solidity the moment you pick it up. The weight distribution and the recurved (falcata) point give it remarkable penetrating and cutting power, traits that establish it as a piece of professional-issue equipment made entirely in Albacete.

Reasons to choose this model

  • Falcata-style point: rooted in the classic design, it shifts the centre of gravity and allows both light chopping cuts and precision piercing.
  • Full-tang body: built as a single piece with a 5 mm thickness, it withstands the kind of twisting that would snap knives with a simple tang.
  • Full double guard: protects the hand and stops it sliding towards the edge, even under tension or in a struggle.
  • Secure handle mounting: held in place with stainless steel Allen screws over brass bushings, which simplifies maintenance and prevents play developing over time.

Steel and edge performance

The edge is made from Bohler N-695 steel, a high-end alloy hardened to 59/60 HRc. This composition stands out for balancing edge retention with strong corrosion resistance. The satin finish, beyond its aesthetic appeal, also helps reduce friction while cutting.

Construction and durability

Strength defines this knife. Its full-tang construction means the steel runs through the entire length of the piece, from the point to the rear pommel. That pommel serves a practical purpose: it acts as a striker or hammer point in an emergency. Despite its great solidity, it is best not to use it as a lateral pry bar against materials harder than the steel itself, so that its technical geometry remains intact.

Handle and control in real use

Grip is decisive in wet, muddy conditions or when wearing gloves. This Asalto comes fitted with satin black Micarta scales, a compound with excellent dimensional stability that neither warps with temperature changes nor retains water. Its texture offers a firm, comfortable hold, reduces fatigue over long days and keeps precise directional control of the blade in every movement.

Sheath and carry

On a knife of this size the carry system is key. The piece ships with a black Kydex sheath fitted to the millimetre, made by Cudeman in its Albacete workshops. Kydex provides excellent passive retention that lets you draw the knife quickly and silently, and it is immune to the elements, oils and fuels.

Where to use it

  • Military and police use: tactical issue support, reliable in combat and heavy-duty tasks.
  • Demanding survival: designed for building shelters, working wood or handling the unexpected in hostile terrain.
  • Rescue and forced entry: its point and striker pommel make it useful in emergency operations.

Care and maintenance

  • After each outing, wipe the blade with a damp cloth and dry it straight away so no marks appear on the surface.
  • Store it in a dry place and keep it away from constant humidity to protect the steel.
  • Check from time to time that the handle's Allen screws are still tight and the structure stays solid.
  • Sharpen it with fine-grit stones or ceramic systems that respect the original grind angle.
  • The Micarta needs no conditioning; if it gets greasy or muddy, water and a mild soap are enough.

The Cudeman Asalto (140-M-K) is the choice for anyone after a no-compromise tactical tool: a forceful piece with a professional heritage, ready to endure and last in the harshest conditions. Available at Navajeria with shipping across mainland Spain.
