Description

Cudeman KAINDA Stag Antler (261-C): the big-game hunter's finishing dagger

The Cudeman 261-C, known as the KAINDA, is a dagger designed for finishing big game, that decisive moment when the hound packs hold the quarry in place and the hunter has no margin for error. Made from start to finish in Albacete by Cudeman, it has earned a prominent place among the most demanding boar hunters in France. It is a tool conceived to settle the encounter with force and precision, aiming for a swift and ethical end.

With the stag antler as its centrepiece, it conveys hunting tradition in its purest form and a presence that commands respect the moment you draw it from the sheath. It offers a secure grip and clean penetration even in the thick of the hunt.

Why it belongs in big-game hunting

  • Precise entry: the blade profile and dagger point allow a direct, resistance-free incision for an effective finish.
  • Hand protection: the solid polished 420 stainless steel crossguard acts as a physical stop, preventing the fingers from sliding onto the edge when pushing hard.
  • Weight and momentum: the 4.8 mm thickness distributed across the 28 cm of overall length provides the mass needed to drive through tough tissue without the blade flexing or vibrating.
  • Anatomical hold: the natural handle material moulds to the palm and keeps control even in high humidity.

Steel and edge performance

The blade measures 16.5 cm and is forged from molybdenum vanadium steel with a hardness of 54/56 HRc. That range is key in a finishing dagger: it provides the toughness needed to withstand an impact against bone without chipping and makes it easy to refresh the edge with a sharpening steel out in the field. The mirror-polished finish, beyond its visual appeal, seals the pores of the metal, repels blood and greatly simplifies cleaning afterwards.

Construction and ruggedness

Its structural strength comes from the full tang build: the steel runs through the handle to the pommel, eliminating any weak point at the joint and leaving a solid assembly capable of withstanding the demands of the finish. Bear in mind that its grind is geared towards penetration and bidirectional cutting, so it is a specialised piece that should not be used to pry heavy objects or to force the blade sideways.

Handle and real control

The handle is fitted with polished stag antler scales, selected one by one to achieve outstanding ergonomics and a distinctive look. The natural irregularities of the antler, softened by polishing, improve the grip when the hand is wet or stained with blood. They are secured to the tang with domed aluminium rivets, which fix the assembly permanently and add a classic touch to the grip.

Sheath and carry

The dagger comes with a handcrafted brown leather sheath, designed to be carried vertically on the belt comfortably during drives. Its closure holds the 260 grams of the piece without play and allows you to draw it quickly and silently when every second counts.

Intended uses

  • Finishing boar or deer: its primary purpose, with direct, deep penetration that minimises the animal's suffering.
  • Defending the hound packs: a fast, safe intervention to protect the catch dogs in the middle of the encounter.
  • Collector's piece: its hunting prestige and the beauty of the polished stag antler make it worthy of a place in any hunting cabinet.

Care and maintenance

  • After the finish, rinse the blade with water as soon as possible to remove the blood and prevent the molybdenum vanadium from developing surface rust.
  • Dry the whole piece thoroughly, paying special attention to the crossguard area, where moisture tends to linger.
  • As the handle is polished stag antler, a natural organic material, store it in a dry place and never let it get wet.
  • Avoid applying oils or creams to the stag antler, as you could alter its natural shine and colour.
  • If you are going to store the dagger until the next season, protect the blade and crossguard with a drop of mineral oil.
  • Check that the hole in the pin for the lanyard is clear, so you can tie your retention cord securely.

The Cudeman KAINDA (261-C) goes far beyond a simple knife: it represents a commitment to responsible hunting and the perfect close to the encounter. A European dagger built not to fail, available at Navajeria with shipping across mainland Spain.
