Description

Cudeman Bushcrafter 206-GV: a bushcraft knife in green G10 with Bohler steel

When the terrain gets tough, you want gear you can rely on. This bushcraft knife was born in 2019 as the second collaboration between Cudeman and the Grupo BS9, following on from the acclaimed Querqus. It is made entirely in Albacete and designed to make tasks such as working wood, building a shelter or preparing a fire more precise and safer. More than a piece of steel, it is a field tool conceived for demanding use.

The 206-GV model stands out for its very balanced weight distribution, which avoids any sense of heaviness in the hand. Its geometry channels the effort straight into the cut, so you get more done around camp with less fatigue and the confidence that the main blade will perform.

What sets this Cudeman apart

  • Aggressive cutting in wood: the convex Scandi grind bites into the grain hard yet controllably, pulling clean shavings without the edge binding up.
  • Unfazed by the elements: the high-density synthetic scales do not absorb water, mud or blood, so the grip stays firm even in hostile conditions.
  • Strength without joints: the 5 mm thick blade runs through the handle from end to end, forming a steel core able to withstand the hardest work.
  • Versatile point: the drop-point profile combines good piercing ability with the finesse needed for notches or detail carving.

Steel and edge

The blade is forged from Bohler N690Co steel with a heat treatment that brings the hardness up to 60/61 HRc. In practice, this means an edge that stays sharp for a long time after carving logs or limbing dry wood. The cobalt in the alloy boosts corrosion resistance, while the satin finish reduces glare and makes cleaning easier.

Construction

Its architecture is full tang, which removes the usual weak point where the blade meets the handle. It works as a single solid block that channels energy directly. To make it last for years, use it sensibly, avoiding excessive lateral prying on any material and giving an edge of this calibre the care it deserves.

Handle and ergonomics

The grip is dressed in green G10, set off by a contrasting black spacer. G10 is a glass-fibre and resin composite pressed at high temperature that neither swells nor shrinks and stands up very well to impacts. Secured with flush aluminium rivets, the handle moulds to the shape of the hand without creating annoying hotspots, so you can grip hard without blisters or premature fatigue, even when wearing thick gloves.

Sheath and references

A knife of this calibre calls for transport to match. Cudeman pairs it with a handmade black leather sheath, stitched in its Albacete workshops for a snug, secure fit. Depending on the type of outing, two configurations are available:

  • 206-GV: comes with the multi-position black sheath, a lightweight, low-bulk solution for moving with agility.
  • 206-GVC: full multi-position sheath with riveted leather loops and an added kit (leather attachment, sharpening stone, signal mirror, fire steel and 2.8 metres of paracord), aimed at those seeking complete self-reliance in the field.

Use cases

  • Self-reliant survival: use it to start a fire by scraping the fire steel, set traps or prepare the bivouac area.
  • Carving and bushcraft: the width of its blade gives enough control to hollow out spoons, tent pegs or bowls with ease.
  • Outdoors: a very keen edge geared towards fine cutting. It is not the best choice for batoning, since its convex Scandi edge is not designed for that work.

Care and maintenance

  • After each use, wash it with water and mild soap to remove corrosive resins and organic residue.
  • Dry the steel thoroughly before storing it in the sheath, as the inside of the leather can hold moisture.
  • G10 needs no oils or conditioning: a dry brush is enough to remove caked-on dirt.
  • Now and then, apply a drop of protective oil to the blade to preserve the qualities of the steel.
  • Periodically check that the lanyard hole is free of dried mud so you can attach the safety cord.
  • Keep the leather sheath away from intense heat, such as direct embers, so the material does not crack.

In its G10 finish, the Cudeman Bushcrafter (206-GV/206-GVC) is a solid choice for anyone unwilling to compromise on the quality of their gear. Available at Navajeria with shipping across mainland Spain.
