Description

Cudeman Sanabria II (182-Y): compact bushcraft in brown jute

The Cudeman Sanabria II in its brown jute finish distils the technical concept of "El Duende Bushcraft" down to its most essential format, without giving up any of its adventurous character. Conceived as the scaled-down version of the Sanabria I, it strips away everything unnecessary to present itself as a precise, lightweight cutting tool that is very easy to carry. It is particularly well suited to the bushcraft enthusiast who needs a reliable secondary blade and to the hiker who wants real cutting capability without lugging the weight of a traditional knife.

Beneath its organic lines and the warm tone of the brown jute lies a robust full-tang construction. Its 16 cm overall length places it at the perfect balance between a field knife and a neck knife, giving it remarkable versatility in any outdoor setting.

What sets this model apart

  • Minimal weight: at just 80 grams in total, it suits anyone who watches every gram in their pack and still delivers professional-grade performance in a pocket-sized format.
  • Grippy plant fibre: the brown jute scales are eco-friendly and biodegradable, and their porosity creates a reliable mechanical grip that will not slip even with wet hands.
  • Precision at the tip: the 7 cm blade brings your index finger close to the point, which favours fine carving, dressing small game and delicate craft work.
  • Controlled push: the jimping on the spine lets you rest your thumb and apply directed pressure, getting the most out of the cut despite the compact handle size.

Steel and edge

The blade is made from molybdenum vanadium steel with a hardness of 54/56 HRc. This alloy offers a good balance between edge retention and corrosion resistance, an important quality in a tool that lives outdoors. The drop-point tip and the satin grind are designed to deliver clean, precise cuts. Its composition also makes it easy to bring the edge back quickly with a field stone, so the tool is always ready to work.

Construction

Although it looks compact, this is a solid block of steel 3 mm thick that runs the full length of the handle. The jute scales are secured with hollow aluminium rivets, ensuring the assembly withstands lateral stress and pressure work without developing any play. It is a piece built to last, made by Cudeman in Albacete to the same quality standards applied to its larger survival knives.

Handle and ergonomics

The handle measures 9 cm and is optimised for a secure three-finger grip that keeps the tool firm in the palm. The brown jute fibre brings a rustic feel and a warmth that synthetic resins cannot reproduce. It features two lanyard holes, one at the front and one at the rear, which accept a lanyard to ease drawing the knife from the sheath or to visually extend the support of the hand when the task demands it.

Sheath and portability

The sheath is designed and crafted by hand in premium brown leather. Weighing just 45 grams, it fits the knife like a second skin and allows comfortable, secure carry in any position. Its handmade construction guarantees that the Sanabria II stays well retained, with no rattle and no risk of accidental release while on the move.

Use scenarios

  • Bushcraft and light carving: ideal for notches, hollows and preparing feather sticks with millimetre precision.
  • Backup knife: the perfect companion to larger cutting tools, handling fine cutting and food preparation.
  • EDC and hiking: by size and weight, it is well suited to carry around the neck or on the belt on mountain routes where every gram counts.

Care and maintenance

  • Since jute is a natural plant fibre, it is best to store the piece in a dry place and avoid wetting the handle to preserve its structure.
  • Clean and dry the blade after each use to preserve the satin finish and prevent organic residue from attacking the metal.
  • It is best to keep the handle away from excess oils or grease, so that the jute fibre does not become saturated and retains its grip.
  • Do not store the knife inside the sheath while the leather is still damp: let both dry separately to prevent condensation.
  • Touch up the edge with fine-grit stones, taking advantage of the grind geometry to cut effortlessly.

The Cudeman Sanabria II (182-Y) in brown jute packs a technical edge into a compact body: an eco-friendly, agile, Spanish-made tool. Available at Navajeria with shipping across mainland Spain.
