Description

Cudeman 180-N: triple pack of Mini throwing knives to triple your back-to-back throws

In sport knife throwing, keeping your rhythm and building muscle memory is decisive, and stopping to retrieve the knife after every throw breaks that focus. The Cudeman 180-N set brings together three units of the well-known Mini thrower, a model that has been a hobby benchmark for more than two decades in markets such as France. All three pieces share the same idea: ballistic throwing knives with no cutting edge, designed solely to stick the point into wood and to allow a safe grip with no risk to the hands.

What this triple set brings

  • Chained throws: having three identical throwers lets you repeat throws without pauses, adjust your stance on the fly and build effectiveness in little time.
  • Customisable flight: each piece features an adjustable nose weight that shifts the centre of gravity, so the spin in the air responds to each thrower's technique and not to chance.
  • Reliable hold: with no edge, the blade can be gripped firmly to perform half-rotation throws with complete peace of mind.

Steel and point behaviour

In a throwing knife the job is to stick by the point, not to cut, so the absence of an edge is a design requirement. Since each unit takes thousands of impacts against wood, Cudeman turns to 420 steel with a moderate heat treatment of 52/53 HRc. That restrained hardness is the key to its durability: it gives the metal great toughness and lets it flex slightly to absorb the shock of the impact, rather than chipping or snapping as an overly hard steel would.

Construction and toughness

To withstand the repeated punishment, the geometry must be clean. Each thrower in the pack is full tang, starting from a steel plate 2.8 mm thick with a blade width of 2.5 cm. Its 50 grams form a solid block with no structural weak points. These are very robust tools, though their use must be consistent: they are designed to stick into wooden targets, so throwing them against stone, concrete or sheet metal would ruin the point irreversibly.

Grip and real control

Any unexpected snag as you release the piece alters the trajectory. That is why the grip does without overlaid scales, which would also end up breaking under the impacts. The satin-finished steel frame itself serves as the handle and offers a smooth, uniform feel that favours a clean, fast release, without the fingers catching at the moment of letting go.

Sheath and carry

Moving three throwing knives calls for a compact, orderly system. The 180-N kit is supplied with a tough triple sheath in black Cordura that includes a rear pocket to store the included Allen key, so the nose weights can be readjusted right at the target.

When to use it

  • Intensive accuracy sessions in open ground, taking advantage of the cadence of three consecutive throws.
  • Friendly throwing and outdoor practice on wooden targets to fine-tune your aim and your judgement of distance.
  • Trying out different grips and aerodynamic techniques by adjusting the weights on the spot.

Care and maintenance

  • Before each session, check and tighten the nose-weight screw with the Allen key; a loose weight causes annoying vibrations during flight.
  • Clean the points thoroughly when you finish to remove any dirt or splinters stuck to them.
  • If you have thrown on wet or muddy ground, dry all three pieces well before storing them in the Cordura sheath.
  • Every so often, apply a tiny drop of oil to the counterweight thread so it does not seize up with dust and dirt.

The Cudeman 180-N offers the three tools and the cadence you need to work the air: calibrate the weights, lock onto the target and turn consistency into accuracy. Available at Navajeria with shipping across mainland Spain.
