Cudeman Bushcrafter 206-M: a full-tang blade in black Micarta for the wild
The Cudeman Bushcrafter grew out of real experience in the field and is built for anyone who demands a tool capable of more than just cutting. It emerged in 2019 from the collaboration with Grupo BS9, taking the success of the renowned Querqus as its starting point with the aim of fine-tuning performance even further in rugged scenarios. On a day of bushcraft or survival, this piece handles wood and demanding work with remarkable reliability.
Why this knife belongs in the field
- Wide scandi grind: makes carving and processing firewood easier, offering very precise control over the cutting angle on wood.
- 5 mm full-tang construction: the thickness of the spine delivers a solidity that also allows fine cuts without losing stability.
- Bohler N690Co steel: holds its cutting ability for longer and resists corrosion well in damp environments.
- Ergonomic handle: its profile supports a firm grip even when you are tired, without creating pressure points after hours of use.
Steel and edge performance
The blade is made from Bohler N690Co steel heat-treated to a hardness of 60/61 HRc. That combination translates into outstanding edge retention, ready to sustain long working days without fading. The drop-point tip adds versatility: robust enough to pierce yet fine enough for detail work.
Construction and durability
Its architecture is full tang: the steel runs through the entire piece, from the tip to the pommel, eliminating the critical points where it might break. Although it is designed for hard work, responsible use is advisable; the edge is a fine convex scandi that requires technique, so extreme lateral prying and batoning are discouraged, as they can compromise the integrity of the structure.
Handle and control in real use
The scales are made of satin-finished black Micarta, finished with a distinctive red spacer. Micarta ranks among the most reliable materials for intensive use: it does not warp with moisture, withstands impact and keeps a secure grip with wet or muddy hands. Flat aluminium rivets fix the scales permanently and convey the feel of a solid block that reduces fatigue during prolonged carving.
Sheath and portability
The knife travels protected by a high-quality black leather sheath, made by Cudeman in their Albacete workshops with a millimetre-perfect fit. Depending on the intended use there are two configurations:
- 206-M: includes the black sheath with multi-position red stitching, designed for light, simple carry.
- 206-MC: full sheath with riveted leather loops that adds a complete kit (leather attachment, sharpening stone, signal mirror, firesteel and 2.8 metres of paracord).
Use scenarios
- Advanced bushcraft: ideal for building shelters, cutting notches in stakes and setting traps with precision.
- Fire preparation: the 5 mm spine together with the convex scandi grind make it suitable for processing branches and shaving fine curls.
- Survival: a primary companion that responds reliably when the condition of your gear is decisive.
Care and maintenance
- Clean the blade after each use to remove resin or sap that could reduce performance.
- Dry the piece thoroughly before returning it to the leather sheath and avoid storing it in very damp environments.
- If you are going to store it for long periods, apply a thin layer of mineral oil over the steel.
- Hone the edge regularly so you do not have to resort to deep regrinding later on.
- Check from time to time that the lanyard pin stays free of accumulated dirt.
The Cudeman Bushcrafter (206-M/206-MC) distils years of collaborative design into a reliable tool, conceived to prevail in the natural environment. Available at Navajeria with shipping across mainland Spain.
