Cudeman Ness Wolf Olive Wood: a Mediterranean soul on a cutting-edge French line
The Cudeman Ness Wolf stems from a collaboration begun in 2021 with the French designer Charles of Opus Knives ®. In this version, the natural olive wood scales with red fibre spacers add an Iberian accent to flowing, French-inspired lines. Made by Cudeman in its Albacete workshops, it is a knife with a character all its own, designed for anyone seeking a tool with personality that brings together refinement and drive.
Built as a full tang with well-balanced weight, the Ness Wolf is a slim and highly manageable piece. Its aesthetic language, somewhere between traditional and contemporary, makes it as capable in demanding field tasks as in recreational use, with high-level technical performance in any scenario.
What sets it apart
- Signature Nesmuk geometry: the curve of the point makes skinning and food processing easier, achieving long, clean cuts with little effort.
- The warmth of olive wood: the satin-finished natural olive wood handle with red spacers shows unique grain and offers an organic, comfortable grip that gains character with use.
- Integral construction: being a full tang 4 mm thick, it offers total solidity and removes any weak point between blade and handle.
- Aesthetic detail: the red spacers beneath the olive wood create a vivid contrast that underscores the sporty, exclusive feel of this collaboration with Opus Knives ®.
The steel and its cut
The blade uses premium Bohler N-695 steel, hardened to 59/60 HRc. This high-end alloy stands out for holding its edge for a long time and for its excellent corrosion resistance, making it ideal in the face of moisture or organic fluids. The blade profile delivers an incisive cut and smooth penetration, maintaining professional performance throughout demanding days.
Construction and durability
This model's firmness rests on the 4 mm steel plate that runs through the entire piece. Assembly is handled with stainless Allen screws together with internally threaded brass bushings, so the natural olive wood with red spacers stays locked to the steel without any play. At just 130 grams, it is a lightweight yet very robust knife, ready to withstand the lateral stresses typical of hunting and bushcraft.
Handle and control in real use
The olive wood handle features ergonomics designed to adapt to different grips. Thanks to its density and hardness, olive wood adds security to handling. It also includes a lanyard hole, which lets you secure the knife to your wrist or add a custom lanyard for a faster draw.
Sheath and portability
The sheath is also designed and crafted in Cudeman's Albacete workshops, with a hand-fitted finish and high-quality protection. Depending on each user's needs, two configurations are offered in brown leather:
- 208-L: simple multi-position brown leather sheath, suitable for vertical or horizontal carry thanks to its snap-reinforced loops.
- 208-LC: full-kit version that adds a leather attachment equipped with a sharpening stone and signalling mirror, a fire-starting flint and 2.8 metres of high-strength paracord.
What it is for
- Hunting and skinning: the Nesmuk point ranks among the most effective geometries when processing big and small game.
- Bushcraft and carving: its premium steel and light weight make it a good ally for preparing stakes, shaping utensils or heading out on bushcraft.
- Outdoor leisure: an elegant, efficient knife to carry on hiking trails and rely on for a top-level cut.
Care and maintenance
- As this is natural olive wood, store the piece in a dry place and never wet the wood, thus avoiding swelling.
- Wipe the blade with a soft cloth after each use so the satin finish of the Bohler steel stays free of organic residue.
- Dry the tool thoroughly before returning it to the sheath so that moisture does not affect the metal over time.
- To preserve the beauty of the olive wood, occasionally apply a thin coat of mineral oil with a dry cloth.
- Keep the edge with fine-grit stones to get the most out of the cut its technical profile allows.
The Cudeman Ness Wolf (208-L/208-LC) brings together the French line and Spanish steel in a precision tool with natural olive wood scales. Available at Navajeria with shipping across mainland Spain.
