Cudeman Mini Ranger (337-GN): all the power of the full-size model in a compact body
The Cudeman Mini Ranger is a folding knife designed for anyone who needs a reliable cutting tool without carrying extra weight. It inherits the rugged build standards of its larger sibling and, to date, is the first in its range to feature a rear pocket clip for carry. Made by Cudeman in Albacete, it pairs a tactical, aggressive blade geometry with a mechanical lock that inspires confidence from the very first deployment, a combination built for demanding everyday or field use.
What sets it apart
- Solid lock: the rear (back-lock) system fixes the blade firmly and lets you work under pressure with the confidence of a fixed blade.
- Precise grip while cutting: the jimping carved into the spine acts as a non-slip rest for the thumb, adding control for both detail and power cuts.
- Demanding materials: the combination of G10 and high-grade steel withstands intensive use and exposure to the elements without degrading.
- Compact size: with its 8 cm blade and a balanced weight distribution, it offers plenty of capability while taking up very little space.
Steel and edge performance
Its blade is made from Bohler N690Co steel, a premium-grade alloy hardened to 60/61 HRc. The cobalt content in the mix gives it remarkable edge retention and excellent corrosion resistance, so the cut stays aggressive and consistent even on long days. To restore the original edge, the best option is to use a professional sharpener.
Construction and solidity
This piece is assembled with a millimetre-perfect fit between its components. The frame has a thickness of 3.0 mm and the assembly is held together by stainless steel Allen screws with brass bushings, a setup that prevents play from developing over time. The satin finish on the blade not only gives a refined look but also makes the cutting surface easier to clean.
Handle and ergonomics in real use
The scales are black G10 with red spacers, a solution that performs well in any climate. G10 is a high-density synthetic composite unaffected by moisture or extreme cold and heat, so it always keeps its grippy feel. The handle length, at 11 cm, lets you rest your whole hand on it, and the ergonomic profile reduces fatigue during prolonged use so the clip-point tip responds with precision. It is worth highlighting that this is the first model in the series to feature the rear pocket clip, a much-requested improvement.
Versions and sheath
The model is offered in two configurations to suit different carry needs. The leather sheaths that accompany these knives are made in-house by Cudeman, custom-fitted so the blade sits precisely, rides safely on the belt and keeps the same quality as the knife itself:
- 337-GN: Mini Ranger with clip, without sheath.
- 337-GNF: knife with clip and a black sheath with orange stitching to match the red spacer of the G10 (sheath 604-NN).
What it suits
- Tactical and outdoor: its toughness makes it suitable for auxiliary tasks in the field or for any situation that calls for a cutting tool you can trust.
- Everyday (EDC): discreet thanks to its size, yet with high-end performance to handle daily tasks.
- Emergency and survival: with its tip and its lock, it fits well in rescue or preparedness kits.
Care and maintenance
- The black G10 makes the handle highly durable; storing the piece in a dry place after each use is enough to protect the internal components.
- It is best to clean the blade at the end of the day with a soft cloth, to preserve the satin finish and remove moisture or acidic residue.
- From time to time, a drop of light oil on the pivot and on the back-lock mechanism keeps the deployment smooth.
- Periodically checking the tightness of the Allen screws preserves the structural tension, and checking those on the rear clip prevents losing the piece.
